5x Zha Cai Preserved Vegetables, 80g

Zha cai is a popular ingredient in Sichuan cooking. It’s a type of preserved vegetable made from the pickled stems of the mustard plant. Recipes may also refer to it as ‘Sichuan preserved vegetable’.

Flavoured with salt and chilli, this Chinese condiment is rich in umami. It’s often served with silken tofu, rice and congee. A small spoonful will transform a simple stir fry into something delicious. It’s great in stews and marinades, too.

Serve zha cai on top of noodles or Chinese soups. It has a powerful flavour, so a little goes a long way. For a quick lunch, add a spoonful of the preserved vegetable to a bowl of steamed rice. Top with a fried egg and a drizzle of chilli oil.

Each pack contains 80g of zha cai.

Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight.
