This ‘Gran Cru’ Coratina extra virgin olive oil is an exceptional olive oil, from one of Italy’s oldest olive producing regions. The olives for this bottle are hand-picked and cold extracted, to preserve as much of the prized flavour as possible. Mr Galantino personally oversees the production of these bottles, to ensure each one meets his exacting standards. Galantino produces a limited number of Gran Cru bottles each year.
Use the oil as the crowning flavour for freshly roasted vegetables, meats and seafood. Or finish off a bowl of rich homemade tomato soup with a good drizzle and some torn basil leaves.
Galantino is based in the town of Bisceglie, Puglia – the region that produces more olives than any other in the world. The medieval town is steeped in history, perched on the Adriatic coast and surrounded by ancient olive groves. Galantino’s oil is renowned for its quality and consistency, and holds protected status (PDO). The family olive mill has been pressing oil since 1926, and is run today by the third generation. All their olives are carefully selected and washed before being crushed on traditional stone mills.
